The papers are representative of the actual 11+ tests but they are not identical. The actual tests may include item types that are not in the familiarisation papers and the familiarisation papers may omit item types that are in the actual tests.

The papers give pupils the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the general nature of the tests and to practise aspects such as following instructions carefully and working against a time limit.

Familiarisation papers are also sent to local primary schools in June to be administered at a time that suits them. This could be at any time during Term 6 or in the Autumn Term before the actual tests in September, and it is up to each individual primary school Headteacher if they feedback to parents/carers. If your child attends a primary school that does not administer the familiarisation tests, they will be invited to attend these at Kesteven and Sleaford High School on the morning of Saturday 14 June 2025.

We will also provide access to sample practice papers via the ‘Frog’ online learning platform. Individual usernames/passwords will be issued to those registered to take the 11+ tests in late April/May 2025
