For further information regarding courses, pathways and life as a student in Sleaford joint Sixth Form please follow the link www.sleafordjsf.org
The Sleaford Joint Sixth Form is a longstanding institution in Sleaford. Sleaford secondary schools have worked together for over 30 years retaining their individuality and unique character whilst enabling students to enjoy everything that is on offer at each site. High standards of teaching and learning and academic success are well known features of each of the schools and students in the Sleaford Joint Sixth Form benefit from working with highly qualified staff in excellent facilities.
Schools working together for their Post-16 students increase student choice, enlarge opportunities and enhance the academic and personal success of their students. Sleaford Joint Sixth Form is the collaboration of secondary schools in Sleaford which aims to achieve all those things for their Post-16 students.
As the Sixth Form is of a considerable size it is possible to offer a very wide range of courses and also to offer subjects that often only attract small numbers because of their specialised character. Many of the more popular subjects are offered at all three schools, which makes almost any combination of subjects possible.
Academic standards are high throughout the three schools. Students move on to a wide range of Higher Education institutions and employment opportunities. The schools have a pastoral team who will work together to monitor academic progress, provide support and guidance and ensure that students have the necessary information and support when making decisions regarding their future career pathways. This will include supporting university applications, employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
Staff are very approachable and keen to assist students outside the lesson times. The system of target setting and regular tracking not only motivates students but also helps the Sixth Form team of staff to monitor progress and identify potential problems as well as particular talents. Academic work is enhanced by a wide range of co-curricular activities which broaden the educational experience, including outside speakers to the Enrichment programme, visits to Cambridge, Nottingham and Lincoln Universities and field trips. In addition all students can take part in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Work Experience and a wide range of extra-curricular activities and sports, including girls’ football. The students in the Joint Sixth Form benefit from the excellent independent study facilities at the three schools.
Students enrolled in schools in the Sleaford Joint Sixth Form may be eligible to receive a bursary to help support their education. This will be dependent on household income and at the discretion of the school.
