Educational Visits
At KSHS we currently offer a number of different activities and trips which support the curriculum. We believe strongly that learning can be extended and enriched beyond the classroom and therefore offer a range of opportunities to help your child experience different cultures, strengthen friendships and undertake personal challenges.
Key Stage 3 (Year 7 to Year 9)
In Key Stage 3 there are several trips/events planned to support learning in various subjects.
Typical Key Stage 3 Enrichment Trips/Activities include:
- Geography – field trips to the British coast
- Science – Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) activities including those supported by the Armed Services and local businesses
- Salters’ Chemistry and Project X STEM Competitions
- History trip to Beth Shalom – The Holocaust Centre
- History – day trips to sites of interest
- Art Trip to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park
- English – Young Journalists Academy Workshops and visits
- Design & Technology Design Challenge at the Lincolnshire Show
- Drama and Dance – including the national Shakespeare Schools Festival and Rock Challenge
Residential
- Year 7: Residential trip and Geography fieldwork study in Norfolk
- Year 8: MFL/Geography trip to Germany
- Year 9: History/French trip to France to visit the Historic Sites of WW1 and WW2
Key Stage 4 (Year 10 and Year 11)
- Drama Trips (various) for students in Year 10 to Year 13: includes watching performances and taking part in Workshops
- History and German Trip to Berlin for students in Year 11: 4 days, 3 nights
- Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions: Bronze, Silver and Gold: 2-4 days
- National Citizen Service (NCS) programmes for Years 11 to 13
- Ski Trips to the USA and Europe
- Artist Workshops as part of the Arts Award programme
- University visits including Sutton Trust residentials
- International visits including:
- Expeditions (2018 Zanzibar, 2019 Nepal)
- New York
- Iceland Field Trip for Geographers
