Student Success - Athletics

My name is Evie and I started running for Lincoln Wellington Athletics club when I was 9 years old.  Before this I used to wait all year at primary school for my favourite day of the year, 'sports day'.  Since joining the club, I have developed a passion sprinting, hurdling, relay and more recently long jump.

In January I competed at Sheffield EIS (English Institute of Sport) for the Northern athletics track competition. I was really proud to take home silver medal for the 60m sprint race.

I train at Lincoln Wellington club 3 times a week. I love being part of a group, it feels like a big family, and we all cheer each other on and encourage one another. Although I get nervous before races, I feel really proud to be representing the club.

There are many other things that you can compete in such as shotput, javelin, long distance, cross country, triple jump, high jump,  pole vault and many more. I am not a fan of the throwing events but it's good to give everything a try.

There are other athletics clubs across the county so if you are interested in sport it might be worth checking them out.
