Term 4  -  4 March 2022

Dear Parent/Carer

Welcome to our first newsletter of Term 4 and what a busy couple of weeks it’s been for our students.

Whether they have been rehearsing for the KSHS production of Alice in Wonderland, taking part in the national finals of the Young Engineers’ Lego League championships or competing in a whole range of sporting fixtures it’s been great to see how busy students have been.

As well as lessons students have also been learning about the situation in Ukraine and Year 9 students across the Trust have been tackling the subject of sexual harassment through drama performances and workshops. My thanks to GCSE and A Level Drama students and Mrs Thomas, Subject Leader for Drama, whose performance of ‘Girls Like That’ provided a thought-provoking start to the sessions.

You’ll also see that after two difficult years it was super to celebrate our Duke of Edinburgh award winners’ success this week.

Do scroll down and read all about these events.

Growth Mindset

Staff are invited to nominate students who have demonstrated a Growth Mindset in the past few weeks. This might have been in lessons, in clubs, in tutor time or simply around school. Please note we already award bi-annual subject badges and merits for good academic work, effort and improvement. These Growth Mindset nominations recognise those who show resilience (academic or otherwise); who aren’t afraid to get things wrong and learn from it; those who have a go, take themselves out of their comfort zone or show that even if a task is tough they will persevere.

Amazing production of 'Girls Like That' from our GCSE and A Level Drama groups for year 9 students @KSHSSA and @carresgrammar watching, thinking about and discussing sexual harassment and how it affects young people. Well done to all involved. https://t.co/QHP616wvPY
